sucrose stearate

Sucrose stearate is a mixture of the sugar sucrose and a natural substance known as stearic acid. Sucrose stearate is used as a surfactant, emulsifier, emollient and skin conditioner.

The amount of sucrose stearate present in a skincare formula determines the consistency of the solution. In general, the more sucrose stearate that is contained in a product, the thicker it will be. Beauty products containing a larger amount of water in their formulation will require a higher grade of sucrose stearate to achieve the desired results of creating the proper consistency.
