Ingredient Analysis
1. Sorbitan Stearate. Sorbitan Stearate is used in skincare and cosmetics as a/an emulsifying ingredient.
2. Titanium Dioxide. A broad-spectrum SPF sunscreen; sometimes used as a pigment & for its opacity
3. evening primrose ( Oenothera Biennis ) very rich & delicate skin-friendly moisturizing oil; anti-inflammatory & great for eczema & psoriasis
4. Tapioca Starch. Often seen in lotions and in powder products as well as in emulsion systems. It's added so the lotion has a less greasy feel on the skin.
5. lemon extract ( Citrus Medica Limonum,(Lemon) ) Lemon extract in skincare is a known skin sensitizer and irritant. It can have antibacterial properties but it’s incredibly irritating, as lemon juice has a pH of 2, which is very acidic and its use is linked with damage to your skin’s acid mantle. Lemon extract/juice/peel/oil does way more harm than good. Using lemon juice on your skin, or products containing lemon extract, lemon oil, lemon peel and even other citrus extracts and peel oils (like orange, mandarin, grapefruit, etc.) can cause brown discolorations and red rash looking irritation when you go out into the sun. This is a reaction known as phytophotodermatitis.
6. Benzophenone ( Oxybenzone ) UV sunscreen & frangrance masking agent. Helps prevent deterioration of fragrance/color that might be affected by UV rays found in daylight. May produce hives & contact sensitivity. In sunscreens they may cause immediate hives as well as other photoallergic reactions. Also may cause face & neck rashes when in shampoo.
7. preservatives ( Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate ) Used as a preservative or enhances the efficacy of preservatives
8. Octocrylene. Octocrylene is used in skincare and cosmetics as a/an UV absorber, UV filtering ingredient.
9. Octinoxate. A UVB-sunscreen usually combined with other sunscreens
10. Shea Butter. emollient & occlusive anti-inflammatory moisturizer; contains allantoin, phytosterols, fatty acids & vitamins A,D&E BUT may break out some people due to its richness
11. Octisalate. chemical sunscreen (primarily UVB filter); emollient & water-resistant properties; oil-soluble & FDA approved; also used as a fragrance ingredient
12. Zinc Oxide. UVA + UVB sunscreen; anti-irritant, thickener, coloring agent/pigment; bulking agent
13. Cucumber. moisturizing & anti-inflammatory (contains 95% water)
14. solvents ( Water,Aqua ) solvent
15. mandarin ( Citrus Aurantium Dulcis ) fragrant skin irritant; no topical benefits
16. Beeswax. a thickening agent that has some emollient properties
17. retinol ( Retinyl Palmitate ) Proven antioxidant anti-wrinkle treatment; induces collagen synthesis, increases skin elasticity, smoother skin & skin lightening effects; treats hyperpigmentation
